Towards the end of 2011, Producer/M.C., Oddisee was prepping to tour his debut LP, “People Hear What They See” released on prolific hip-hop music label, MELLOMUSICGROUP. As his production style consisted heavily of live instrumentation, he felt doing the usual DJ/M.C. show would not do justice to the live element he felt it deserved. Thus, he decided to attempt his tour this time around with a live band. What better way to execute this than with the guys who played on the album? This idea gave birth to the elite sound of Good Compny. Although the name had not materialized until later, Good Compny includes Jon Laine (JLAINE) on drums/vocals, Dennis Turner (Mr. Turner) on bass, Ralph Washington (Ralph Real) on keys/vocals, Olivier St. Louis on guitar/vocals Richard Patterson (Unown) on MPC and Oddisee at the helm as lead vocals. Albeit Oddisee's impressive credentials, the Good Compny roster boasts a notable set of their own. Jon Laine and Mr.Turner (both individually and collectively) have worked and performed with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, David Foster, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Omar, Dave Chappelle and many others. Olivier St Louis as a singer/songwriter has recorded and toured with super producer Hudson Mohawke and two-time, platinum selling producer/DJ group C2C.Dj's. Ralph Washington, an accomplished pianist has over 20 years of professional musicianship has performed on Oddisee’s albums for 10 years, and Richard Patterson, a sound engineer by trade, is also a prolific Hip-Hop producer landing production credit with Raekwon of the Wu-Tang clan in 2013. Oddisee & Good Compny's unique sound is an eclectic combination of genres primarily based in Hip-Hop and soul with elements of Jazz, Funk and 'Go-Go', a music style native to the collectives hometown of Washington DC. Within two short years, Oddisee & Good Compny have garnered an already impressive resume with over 50 performances nationally and internationally receiving high praise from fans and critics alike. In fact, some of the critics are dubbing the group as, 'The New Roots.'
